Youth Navigator Program

Youth Navigator Program

Waypoint’s Youth Navigator is the “front door” for youth ages 12-24 to access immediate services when faced with a housing crisis. This means they are the first person a young person connects with.

The Youth Navigator Program provides one-on-one help for young people navigating a housing crisis. We provide resources, referral, and coordination to support young people who might be thinking of leaving home or who already do not live with parents/guardians, are couch surfing, or are experiencing homelessness. Through the program, we help youth chart a course to safety.

Waypoint Launches a First-in-the-Nation Program to Prevent Youth Homelessness

Sometimes all it takes is an unaffordable car repair or a high heating bill to start a spiral that results in homelessness.

Opinion: Criminalizing homelessness is a heartless response to a complex issue

The Grants Pass decision does nothing to solve the problem of homelessness. Simply because an unhoused person has no option other than sleeping on a park bench or in a tent on a public sidewalk, they could now be issued citations with fines they cannot pay and may face a future that is forever hampered by a criminal record. When our society should be extending a helping hand, we are instead delivering a slap in the face.

Johnson Vs. Grants Pass Ruling Statement

On Friday, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that opens the door to fining and incarcerating individuals experiencing homelessness for sleeping outside. Waypoint is deeply disappointed in this decision.
