Manchester, N.H. (December 5, 2023) – Decking the halls and hanging twinkling lights embodies holiday spirit but it is generosity and the giving spirit that can make this time of year truly magical. To help meet the wishes of over 1,500 children in need this holiday season and beyond, Waypoint, the longest-running children’s charitable organization in New Hampshire, is partnering with WZID/95.7 FM for the 25th Annual Christmas is for Kids Radiothon. On December 8, the 11-hour event will support local children in need by raising much-needed funds to provide critical services to their families.
“This event makes a big difference for kids who are facing life at a disadvantage,” said Borja Alvarez de Toledo, president and CEO of Waypoint. “The children and youth who will be helped include those who face challenges that are unimaginable to most of us. This includes those who have suffered from abuse or neglect, live in or near poverty, are in foster care, are homeless, struggle with emotional or developmental concerns, or with trauma, loss, or family hardship. Waypoint is here to help through funds raised during the WZID Christmas is for Kids Radiothon. We ask for donations of any size to make the holidays and beyond brighter for children in need throughout New Hampshire. You can make a difference.”
In addition to providing gifts under the tree, the event will support Waypoint services such as in-home visits for families under stress, positive recreational experiences for at-risk youth, parent education, and support groups. Support will also subsidize equipment and transportation for children with developmental or chronic health concerns, care packs for children transitioning through foster care, and two weeks of summer camp for children from low-income families, including children of incarcerated parents.
From 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. on December 8, WZID Christmas is for Kids Radiothoninvites listeners to call in to make monetary donations. During the broadcast with Neil and Marga, listeners will hear holiday music, news, live activity, and the usual entertainment, along with stories and inspiration from local companies, children and families, and Waypoint staff who work closely with them. Over the past 25 years, Waypoint has raised over $3 million directly touching the lives of nearly 60,000 kids and families throughout the state.
