The Youth Resource Center is a drop-in center where homeless youth, ages 12-23, can receive survival aid and have access to services to help them change the trajectory of their lives. The goal is to increase safety, well-being, permanent connections, and self-sufficiency.
At the YRC, youth have access to food, clothing, laundry and shower facilities, computers and phones. In addition, youth can connect with case managers to obtain documentation papers, connection to State benefits including Medicaid, education and vocational resources, physical and mental healthcare, and emergency shelter and housing options. Youth may also participate in life skills workshops and positive recreational activities and events.
The center is open Monday - Friday. Services are voluntary and are provided using a positive youth development approach. Services follow Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: meeting basic needs first, and then developing the participant’s vision of stability and goals to attain it.
